When we think about what are the most important things in our lives, we realize that the answers of each person may vary according to their own circumstances, but it is clear that a large part of the population would answer: stay healthy, improve their economic aspect, improve their personal relationships and all kinds of answers related to personal growth. But sadly, although it is a general consensus to have as a priority the continuous improvement of many aspects of our lives, the actions carried out by most people are completely opposed to progress, for example, someone may say that they have to work on their projects, but at the end of the day they end up watching television and postponing important activities for later.This is why a very high percentage of the population does not live their existence to the fullest potential, but rather they reach the conformism of accepting the circumstances, even if that means living under very low standards of living.
The good news here is that, although not many people are creating the life of their dreams, you are in control of your destiny and can belong to that privileged group. No matter what situation you are in right now, if you decide to start changing and taking action, the results you will get in a few years will radically change your life.
One aspect that has a direct impact on your results is the first hour of each day, it is said that if you have a productive first hour so will be the rest of your day. That is why this book describes 6 habits that we must develop in that first hour. Performing them consistently will help us to increase our motivation levels and increase our overall performance. Therefore, the recommendation is that as far as possible you get up an hour earlier than usual so that before starting your normal routine you have the space to carry out each one of them.
Habit 1: Silence
Before starting any other activity, get used to being in silence. This is highly beneficial for your mind, it also considerably reduces your stress levels and allows you to start each day with calm, peace of mind and you can be more focused on the most important tasks of your day.
Some of the most illustrious people have been able to transcend and achieve incredible results through this practice. Keep in mind that there are some activities that you can do within your period of silence, such as: meditation, prayer, deep breathing. Everyone, according to their own beliefs and customs, can decide how best to take advantage of this activity.
The ideal would be to use at least five minutes of silence daily.
Habit 2: Affirmations
Affirmations are one of the most important tools to increase your motivation levels and help you develop the positive mindset to achieve your goals. Your affirmations work either for you or against you. When you utter positive affirmations aligned with what you want to achieve on a daily basis, they begin to generate new beliefs in you, which allows you to take actions consistent with your goals; therefore, it is important that after you have been silent, you dedicate another five minutes to say out loud phrases related to what you want. The more you repeat the affirmations, the more likely you are to achieve positive results.
Habit 3: Visualization
This consists of imagining exactly what you want to achieve. This technique is used, for example, by athletes who, before starting a competition, visualize themselves making the moves they have to carry out. In our case we can also use this technique to visualize ourselves doing the activities we have to do during the day, visualize your biggest goals and desires, look in your mind every detail you want, the idea is that you see yourself achieving what you have always wanted to achieve. Try to do this activity for a period of five minutes.
Habit 4: Exercise
This is one of the activities that help increase your energy and improve your emotional state. It also allows you to think better and concentrate more, so you can dedicate 20 minutes to aerobic exercise.
An important aspect to keep in mind is that if you are not used to exercise it is advisable that before starting a routine first consult your doctor.
Habit 5: Read
The idea is always to learn from the experts, from those who have already achieved what you want, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel, the easiest way to achieve success is by modeling what other people have done, so the recommendation is to read at least 10 pages of a personal development book per day; this will take you on average 20 minutes. To see the impact this habit can have on your life, let's analyze the following calculation: 10 pages a day is equivalent to having read 3650 pages a year, which would be 18 books.
It is highly recommended to re-read the books that you have found most important, as you will always find a new idea, because it is very difficult to get the most out of a book by reading it only once.
Habit 6: Writing
The idea is to have a notebook where you can write down your goals, your thoughts, your plans, your lessons learned, achievements and the areas of your life that you want to improve; this will help you gain clarity and face your day in a better way. It is advisable to take five minutes doing this activity.
Once you have completed all of the above, you will be able to do all the activities you have planned for the day. It should be noted that this routine can be perfectly customizable, that is, if you feel that your time is limited and you can not spend an hour doing all of the above, you can spend one minute for each activity which can also represent great benefits to your productivity. Another aspect to take into account is that, although the most advisable is to do it in the morning hours, there are people that because of their work schedules will have to do it at another time of the day; but the general idea is to do this routine before starting with your normal activities.
I have also been where you are now. When I first started my dream of starting my own Medical Clinic and was the CEO, I didn't know how to fulfill my responsibilities at work and still be present at home with my family. However, after making changes in my productivity, goal setting and leadership, I was able to take my company forward through an economic recession the country was in and achieve positive results; all while being home in time to have dinner with my family every night.
