Book: "The monk who sold his Ferrari".
This book tells the story of Julian, a very successful man who had an impeccable career as a lawyer and thanks to his work had achieved what most people yearn to have: a salary of more than a million dollars a year, a mansion, a private jet and his most prized possession, a Ferrari in the garage of his house. However, despite having an excellent financial condition, Jhon, his co-worker, knew that things in Julian's life were not going well: his marriage had failed, he had not spoken to his father and despite everything he had, nothing seemed to satisfy him; he worked up to 18 hours a day, but was neglecting the other aspects of his life, so much so that at 53 years old he suffered a heart attack and it was this fact that would change his outlook on life. Julian would manage to recover, but the doctors told him that if he continued at that pace his life would end very quickly. Faced with this scenario and knowing that, despite everything he had, he had not been able to find wellness, he decided to abandon his career, all his possessions and go on an expedition to India where he would spend three years, learning from the community of sages of Siwana how to build a fuller life. After that period Julian leaves the community promising to share all the teachings he has learned with anyone who needs it.
The first person he meets after this long journey is his old friend Jhon who, upon seeing Julian's appearance, is surprised and interested in learning all the wisdom acquired by his old colleague during the trip. Among the most important lessons that Julian shares with his friend Jhon are the following:
Lesson 1: "Our well-being depends on the quality of thoughts we put in our mind, not on external circumstances."
In life we will find people who, despite having a mansion, a nice car, a good job, will lead a life in which nothing satisfies them, as it happened to Julian himself for whom all the possessions were not enough to lead a full life. On the contrary, there are people who, despite having relatively little, enjoy more and lead a more meaningful life. If we were to ask ourselves: do I have to have little in order to live a better life? the answer is no. This story is just one example of how economic success alone often does not bring well-being.
We must try to have a more balanced life, for example if you are lucky enough to have a good amount of money and in addition to this you have nourished your mind daily with constructive information and knowledge, surely it will be easier for you to have gratitude and enjoy each of the things you have; while if you have money but you have a poor mentality you will not enjoy what you already have but you will be constantly worried about your money stressed and even working more to increase a fortune you have never enjoyed. In this aspect the message of the book is to learn to cultivate our mind so that we can fully enjoy every moment of our life, if for example you have a goal you cannot start to develop it with the mentality that you will feel satisfied and happy only when you have achieved it but you must enjoy each of the activities and process to carry it out.
In the book it is said that one of the things that produces more happiness is the feeling of achievement, so if you want to achieve something fight to achieve it; just remember that you should not become an obsessive worker because you must leave space to be with your family, rest, to take care of your physical part. The fact that you have a lot of ambition to get what you want does not mean you should sacrifice everything else, the most common excuse of people when talking about having a balance in various aspects of life is the famous "I have no time", but saying that would be like going in a car on a road and never stop to refuel just because you are in a hurry; with this mentality you will most likely not reach your destination, the same happens with your life: you must take breaks, rest, take care of your body, you cannot start working 20 hours a day to get results faster, you must find a rhythm that you can sustain over time.
We have to remember that a small action carried out consistently produces incredible results. The key is to start with small changes, for example, if instead of watching television you dedicate half an hour to do something more productive, you begin to develop self-discipline which in the future will bring substantial changes to your life.
This book is not an invitation to leave all your goals aside but to complement them with an inner growth which will allow you to be more conscious of the present moment in order to become more aware of the future.

Lesson 2: "Make the most of your time".
This factor is the one that we must keep in mind since it is a resource that day by day is running out. For this we first have to establish priorities in order to use that time only in the activities that give us more satisfaction, learn to remove activities that contribute little to your well-being so that in this way you can simplify your life a little more.
Lesson 3: "Service to others".
We need to cultivate in ourselves the capacity for service to others. Let us ask ourselves how we can improve the lives of others, what can be our contribution to society through our work?
We have to be aware that we came into the world with nothing and once we leave it we will also leave with nothing and that the only thing that will remain after this happens is our contribution.
I have also been where you are now. When I started my dream of setting up my own Medical Clinic and was the CEO, I did not know how to fulfill my responsibilities at work and be present at home with my family at the same time. However, after making changes in my productivity, goal setting and leadership, I was able to take my company forward through an economic recession the country was in and achieve positive results; all while being home in time to have dinner with my family every night.
I now teach the same principles that helped my leadership, along with my team, here at CIME Academy.
